The topic will provide a general overview of workers’ compensation procedural and representative process of workers’ compensation law to allow you to become a better paralegal and valuable asset to workers’ compensation attorneys and firms. Workers’ compensation matters typically involve four main elements including employer-employee relationships; compensability questions; affirmative defenses; and what benefits are owed to an injured worker. This topic will discuss these four basic elements of a workers’ compensation claim and the paralegal’s role in each of these fact finding determinations to help paralegals become proficient in the practice of workers’ compensation law and allow them to reference some of the most recent trends in the workers’ compensation practice.
